Week 12

Can see the possibilities of social networking such as myspace and facebook being used to promote events, activies and libraries themselves. Completing the Learning 2.0 program opened my eyes to the many different applications of social networking etc. Mashups, Tagging, using RSS and podcasts etc were all new to me. I hope that our library will be able to put some of this technology to use in the future.
Exercise 11

Didn't realise that there were so many free software options out there. The idea of sharing a document etc when working together in teams or groups is great. Could have used this when I was working with a group of people and a report needed to be produced, would have been a great time saver. Can see the potential for using in the library particularly for team/group situations or information sharing for those who work part time as gives easy access from home or wherever.

Week 10
Found Mashups to be interesting. Not sure how we could use it in our particular library maybe as suggested could be used for promotional material etc.
Week 9

Like many others I can see the potential of using podcasts within the library environment. For example training purposes, library tour, author talks etc, on-site introduction to new staff. Not being a big user of this technology I still have some learning to do but will endeavour in my spare time to investigate further the use of and the how to of podcasts.

Week 8

Not sure that I personally would use this in my everyday library work but can see how it may appeal to some as a way of getting an answer to particular enquiried, as mentioned by others, is very impersonal as opposed to the face to face scenario which some find a bit off putting as they may not want to seem silly etc.

Exercise 7

Can see how tagging and bookmarking can be utilised in a library setting.
Time saving a huge plus especially when doing repeated searches of the same reference type material. Links to sites that have been located by others that I may not have previously thought of is also a good source of information

Technorati may be appealing to some but I don't think it is something that I would use in a library setting.

After having a look around the Library Thing Website, I can see how this site can be useful in finding lots of information with little effort. I will be taking the time to search and discover more about this website to improve my knowledge and be more aware of it as a useful tool for reference in my everyday work.

Angel Falls

Week 6

I personally have not been too interested in YouTube, etc but after having a look around and exploring what was out there I could become a regular user of YouTube and similar sites. I can see how we might use this technology to help promote certain events/activities. As mentioned in other blogs I read I agree that a level of professionalism and goals to be achieved are kept in mind. I found some of the Mosman Library YouTube presentations interesting but some were a bit long winded.
